1. Classes of Membership and Eligibility

There are two classes of member societies:

a. Member Societies
A national society of dermatology, or a society within the broad field of dermatology, may apply to become a Member Society of the ILDS by providing to the ILDS Administrative Office organizational information about the society including the number of dues-paying members, the names and addresses of the Officers, and the bylaws of the organization.

b. Affiliated Member Societies
An international society of dermatology, or a society within the broad field of dermatology, may apply to become an Affiliated Member Society of the ILDS by providing to the ILDS Administrative Office organizational information about the society including the number of members by country, the names and addresses of the Officers, and the bylaws of the organization. An Affiliate Member Society must have a minimum of 50 members for eligibility to apply for ILDS membership.

Following an affirmative vote by the Board the applying society is sent a confirmation with a statement of dues payable. Upon receipt of payment, the society officially becomes a Member Society or Affiliated Member Society, depending on the classification.

2. Membership Fees

To cover the operating expenses of the ILDS for the period between World Congresses, every Member Society is charged a fee based on the number of dues-paying members the society reports - with the total adjusted in recognition of those members who also hold membership in other Member Societies in the same country. Affiliate Member Societies are charged a flat fee.
